Sir Alfred, the creator of T-N-T Dynamite, was reading the paper the morning
after a huge explosion within the factory he owned. Five people died in the
explosion, one of which was Sir Alfred's younger brother. However, the paper
mistakenly reported that Sir Alfred had died and published his Obituary. What's
more interesting than the Newspaper mistaking Sir Alfred's death is how Sir
Alfred was remembered in the paper's Obituary. The writing detailed the
destruction birthed through Sir Alfred's invention of the dynamite. Sir Alfred
immediately notified the press of the mistake, but he could not shake the anguish
he felt from all of the harsh words he had just read about himself. This event time
stamped the moment that Sir Alfred moved from being successful to significant.
Sir Alfred applied the discipline necessary to alter the course of his life. The Sir
Alfred that I speak about is Sir Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Sir Alfred didn't like how he would be remembered, so he took action and re-wrote
his future. He is now distinguished and appreciated for the peace he championed,
rather than the destruction he created earlier in his life. Interestingly, most don't
even know that Sir Alfred Nobel created the dynamite. You can change. Think
about how you want to be remembered. Start from that point and write the story
of your life. Regardless of where you are right now, all is well in the end and
if all is not well....it's not the end.
